Science Belief
I believe
that scientists should set some limits on what they explore: i.e. human cloning, editing embryos to make designer babies, biological weapons, de-extinction, brain-computer merging, algorithms that predict criminality, etc.
Silent One
- Why? Explorer
- There are so many problems they could work on that would help mankind, so why spend energy on such potentially destructive ones? Don't we have enough weapons that can wipe us out? Biological weapons can be stolen by terrorists. Predictive algorithms are subject to bias and can be used to oppress. Do you really want your brain merged with a computer? Really?? You would expose yourself to manipulation, surveillance or even cognitive harm. Designer babies? That seems to turn children into engineered "products". And how does an embryo give consent to being edited? De-extinction - do you really want mastodons and dinosaurs roaming the earth again? All these areas of exploration are so fraught with potential harm.
