I believe History should be more of a focus on education for younger people, along with teaching it in a context of current events. Mactac

possibly, but I was speaking about history specifically. 
How can young people understand the breadth of history when they have so little life experience? Thinker

It's not an appreciation of history, it's knowing the past so they can make better decisions. The younger generation will be in charge at some point. 
In order for people to understand history, to understand what has happened in the past they need to somehow relate to it personally? Thinker
I don't think so. We need to know the past to succeed in the future. This is less about personal events, and more about the good of society/the world. 
Isn't one of the problems that the kids in the class lose interest if they can't relate to what is being taught? Thinker
